EAT ALABANG: Da Gianni Cucina Italia

In this laidback neighborhood in Alabang, there’s this place called West Gate. In this, you’ll find secret gems that will feed your hungry palate. And by gem, I mean Da Gianni. ❤

We are having our late lunch on a Sunday at 2:00 pm and the restaurant was still almost full when we got there. I had to pick the one nearest the window for a good lighting. (hihi). The place looks posh with brick walls and wooden tables.

20200223_143333

We were given the typical appetizer at first. ❤

20200223_141147

We ordered Quattro Formaggi for Php 535 – Four Cheese topped with Truffles

20200223_142821

20200223_142624

I’ve had A LOT of Four Cheese pizzas in my life, it’s been a favorite variant of mine and this, I have to say is my favorite out of all my favorites. ❤ It’s just oozing with goodness.

We also ordered an Oil Based Pasta, Gambas Aglio Olio for Php 450 – Olive oil and garlic

20200223_144242

20200223_144250

The Chef had to improvise. If you see their menu, they don’t really have an aglio olio dish with shrimps but we requested it. The Chef happily obliged. We just asked that we be informed of the cost first. And they definitely delivered. The pasta is PERFECT. ❤ Good is an understatement. Every bite is heavenly. ❤ ❤ ❤

20200223_144337

With this, we also ordered 2 Wines by the Glass, Trebbiano D Abbruzzo Doc, a sweet white wine for me and Rosato Salento, a rose for the husband.

A perfect lunch to end our weekend. Definitely not our last. ❤

EAT ALABANG: PARMIGIANO

The place is open and surrounded by glass. It’s lit with sun so the entire place is bright, which is why I also like it. ❤ We had a reservation that’s why we were able to get a table. I suggest you do the same because while we were there, there’s a couple of groups which they had to turn down because the place was full and tables were already reserved.

Anyway, so we ordered a LOT. It seems like all Filipinos are – we are afraid to go hungry. 😀

Paella Negra for Php 690

Thanks to my husband, this is now one of my favorite food to order anywhere. I’m glad that the serving of seafood is very generous. The calamari was still crispy and the actual squid is not gummy and not just flour. The paella is flavorful unlike some where it tends to get bland. Love, love, love this. ❤

20200126_125735

Pasta del Parmigiano Pasta (Parmigiano Wheel) for Php 520

I didn’t get to taste this but according to my sister and brother in law, they really liked this. I think the serving can be for 2-3 if you ordered other food to go with this.

Tomato Cream Spaghetti Al Gambheri for Php 825

20200126_130007

4 Stagioni for Php 485

This is basically veggie pizza – Tomato based topped with artichokes and mushrooms. This is a no for me. I’m definitely not their customer.

20200126_130452

Carnivora for Php 550

Pollo Al Mattone for Php 720

There’s a lot of food I didn’t get to try. I apologize. 😛 Hahaha. BUT, a lot of good feedback.

20200126_132116

Serving is good for groups. ❤ Next time, I’ll stick to pasta and paella. ❤ Happy Birthday to me! ❤

EAT BGC: PASTO

He wanted wine, and wine we had. It’s already a given that we have to eat pasta so we head to Pasto. There were no customers so we happily chose a seat next to the window.

Ghamberi Pasta – Php 265

LRM_EXPORT_12944891684587_20180901_190221384LRM_EXPORT_12981305117021_20180901_190257798

IT’s an olive oil based fetuccine with garlic sauteed shrimps, asparagus spears and fresh diced tomatoes.

The pasta wasn’t dry but i think it lacked a bit of taste. I also asked for additional parmesan, and they obliged with no additional charge. I was happy about that. 🙂

Margherita Pizza – Php 215

LRM_EXPORT_13049216944179_20180901_190405710LRM_EXPORT_13076773107317_20180901_190433266

Classic italian combination of fresh tomatoes, mozarella and basil.

Hmm. It’s okay. It’s how you’d imagine a margherita pizza should be but there was no oomph.

LRM_EXPORT_13120930151754_20180901_190517423

Lamadoro Bianco

Straw yellow color with golden reflections , intense aroma, fruity with citrus notes.

LRM_EXPORT_13179763209491_20180901_190616256

I probably had high expectations of the place thus leaving me with regret.

Don’t be mistaken. The food and service is okay. But I just expected more.

TRAVEL NEW YORK: DAY 1

Even now, I cannot fathom the next words I will be typing…. I’VE BEEN TO NEW YORK! 🙂 Oh.my.heart. I am officially in love with the city. One cannot erase what you’ve seen and experience.

So to start telling my story… Undoubtedly, we land in JFK Airport from LAX.

We boarded an airtrain from JFK Airport. An airtrain links you to the MTA New York City buses and subways which will basically take you all around the city. We spent $8.00 for the card. After alighting from the airtrain, we boarded an MTA train again to go to our Airbnb.

20180211_20555820180211_210257DSCF0571

It was a Sunday when we arrive but we were so hungry. It was raining and it’s 9 degree Celsius. :/ So we decided to eat first at Starbucks and head for mass. Can you guess where? …. SAINT PATRICK’S CATHEDRAL

It is decorated with Neo-Gothic style. It is the seat of the archbishop of NY located on the east side of Fifth Ave between 50th and 51st streets in midtown manhattan, directly across from Rockefeller Center.

The church was majestic. It looked so classic an vintage and elite all at the same time. The carvings were carefully done and very intricate.

DSCF0587

And, since I’ve mentioned awhile ago that the cathedral is across from Rockefeller Center…

DSCF0605DSCF0606

DSCF0620

Also one of the most famous landmarks in NYC, it’s running on 22 acres that features 19 commercial buildings. It is also a popular destination for all the events happening in the city. Do you remember the Home Alone 2 scene where Kevin McCallister is standing infront of a giant christmas tree and wishing for his family to return? well, that’s where this is. The famous lighting of the Christmas Tree every year that is being aired all over the world? It’s here. You can actually also go up, TOP OF THE ROCK where you can see the skyline of the city. But for us, we didn’t go there since we will be doing that at the Empire State Building — which is due for another post.

So after we’re settled in our Airbnb, which is at Upper East Side (well, hello elites), we head out for some lunch. and since we were dead tired from all the walking, we decided to stop by the nearest restaurant we could find from where our Airbnb is. It left us with… trying our first and last NYC Pizza.

20180212_03421720180212_034249

It’s a self service restaurant with pizza pans lined in front of the counter so you can choose what flavor you like. And I tell you, 1 slice is enough for 1 or 2 persons!

DSCF0642DSCF0648

After our late lunch.. we head to THE MET  and ohmygod. Who here watches Gossip Girl and their famous MET Steps? and only the coolest and most IT girls are allowed to seat at THE steps. Haha. (Feeding my college heart with Gossip Girl Achievements! ❤ )

Even the streets leading to the museum is Insta-worthy. When we were walking to the museum, we could see there were 2 V-E-R-Y long lines on each end where the entrance is. BUT, BUT, but.. the lines move pretty quickly! so, don’t fret. Though, I suggest you go in the morning so you can take a look around more. The museum is huge.

20180212_040127DSCF0666DSCF0687So, I have to tell you that once you’re inside — you’ll be overwhelmed with how much people are there in the lobby trying to get in line to get a ticket! But here’s the deal: my brother found a machine where you can buy your tickets. The suggested price is $20.00 so that’s what we paid for.

So, my favorite part of the museum is… the one with all the God Statues.

After hours of looking at everything spectacular, we uber-red back to Airbnb and went to K-TOWN .  We ate at KANG HO DONG BAEKJONG in K-Town which received a two thumbs up from Anthony Bourdain.

DSCF0815IMG-2bd9c6ade4cc6cae70901999cbe77aa5-V

I don’t exactly know what we ordered but everything was good. All korean food is G-DOUBLE O -D Good. After a festive dinner, we head to the very lit and eye poppin TIMES SQUARE

DSCF0872DSCF0912

Everything is so colorful and bright and sunny and alive and active… This is why the city absolutely never sleeps. There are random people performing, friends having a night out and just-all-sorts-of-people. ❤

DSCF0903

Okay! So you I know you’ve seen the M&M Store in facebook right? and the Hershey’s Store where all the giant chocolates are? We went there! 😀

DSCF0962DSCF0972DSCF0979DSCF0982

I swear I loved New York on Day 1!

EAT MAKATI: WHOLESOME TABLE

It’s not news when I tell you that it’s traffic in Makati. Right? Ergo, Dinner inside the traffic center. Wholesome Table since it’s near his office.

20160819_201043

We ordered for GRILLED CHICKEN CURRY PIZZA for Php 600. It’s new so on the menu so we gave it a try. SO – SO. Edible, but it’s not on top of my list.

20160819_195709

We also ordered for their Truffled Mushroom Pasta for Php 420. I love it, BTW. though from that I remember — Carbonara is better.

20160819_201151

Will see you next time when it’s raining and traffic.

EAT MAKATI: GINO’S BRICK OVEN PIZZA

Hooray for Saturday Nights! This restaurant has been on my list for ages! And come to think of it? This is just a 10 to 15 minutes walk from where I work.

IMG_3771

We arrived at the scene of gluttony past 7 I think and the place was crowded already. A group of friends, couples and families are gathered outside waiting for their turn. We were fifth on the list and I think it took us 30 to 40 minutes waiting period for us to be seated. I’m not sure if they have reservations but if you want to try this, I suggest that you go there early.

We were I-can-eat-a-whole-pizza-by-myself kind of hungry already. And it was too hot outside – it probably is summer but nonetheless.

IMG_3773 IMG_3778

We asked for their Best Sellers in the Pasta and they gave us two choices: Salted Egg or the Lemon Mushroom. Both are quite unique right? We wanted to try both but we figured that our pizza was already full of dairy. So we ended up ordering the Salted Egg Pasta for Php 190.

It’s a mix of Bacon, Parmesan, Cream, Salted Egg in Fettucine Pasta. It was good. It was creamy yet it had texture. This is not to mock this dish, but to me, I am reminded of the tiny orange bits and pieces that comes with a Malabon Pancit. It actually is a compliment because it’s one of my favorite dishes. Jude loved it!

IMG_3780 IMG_3783

We ordered the Four Cheese Pizza for Php 340. It’s Tomato Sauce,  Ricotta Cheese, Mozarella, Cleu Cheese and Parmesan. What not to love?

I guess there’s one. The crust was a bit hard and difficult to pull. The taste though, I loved it.

We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken and it was deliciiiooouuus! This one is spicy though.

IMG_3793We will be back soon! This is making me hungry at 11 in the evening – or it’s probably because I haven’t eaten anything for dinner.

Any, You should definitely try this!

EAT BF: CAFE ALEZON

Thank God for Facebook and Thank God for Social Media. While I was scanning my news feed, I came across this shared post: If you love books, blah blah. Now, you see, books and coffee — All me.

And when I saw a Holiday, bam! I dragged the Jude with me.

IMG_9883 IMG_9885 IMG_9886

Would you look at homey and how comforting the place looks?:))) Such a nice backdrop to everything in every corner. I love, love, love how the owners designed the place.

IMG_9890 IMG_9891

Since it’s our first time, We didn’t actually know what was good. The owner, who is so pleasant and amicable in every way told us that it was their pizzas that was the best seller. 😀

IMG_9893

Turkish Coffee – First time to try it. It tasted different – even Judey who loves brewed coffee. I don’t know much about coffee but to me it tasted more like a tea, it has a sweet remnants.

IMG_9896

Cappuccino – It was a bit on the strong side. I’m on the sweet grass – therefore, this is not for me.IMG_9897

But this pizza, you can never go wrong with their All Meat Pizza. The size was huge but no worries, it’s super thin. We almost finished everything. We only held out for so long since we had another lunch to go to. I suggest you order their pizza. :))

IMG_9899

This can definitely go up to my study places. 😀 I’ll be coming back!

EAT MAKATI: Franco’s

Originally, I do have Monday Classes – Financial Accounting Class.
But then after 30 minutes of waiting, someone from the registrar went to announce that our Prof couldn’t make it.
Anyway, ended up having a date with this guy.

IMG_3908

Franco’s at Powerplant Mall.
We ordered Four Cheese Pizza –

IMG_3924 IMG_3918

It’s divine. We finished everything. Thinly sliced pizza that melts in your mouth. I couldn’t get enough. I actually wanted a second serving.

IMG_3916 IMG_3917

We also ordered Salpicao. Their Salpicao didn’t actually have toasted garlic bits but it tastes so good.

IMG_3912
I am coming back for sure. I wouldn’t mind ordering the same food again. I love it.

EAT ORTIGAS: Tipsy Pig

Because this is the perfect time to try the Tipsy Pig. The boyfriend is working late.

Image

Now. now, We are Starving. I am dead hungry. While the attorney had his orders already, I cannot seem to pick what I want. So I decided to order the drinks first.

Image

I was devastated. I wanted two flavored beers: Salted Caramel, which is their best seller and the Green Apple. Good thing I have this wonderful boyfriend. He might have been thinking of ordering another wine but ended up ordering the Salted Caramel so I can taste both. Hihi. He says that theirs is better than the first famous salted caramel beer from Rue Bourbon. It was okay, from my perspective and much sweeter too. I liked my Green Apple Beer. It doesn’t have much of their carbon dioxide which makes you burp and full even just for a small amount. Though, the taste of the green apple is only apparent by the last gulp.

Image

Buffalo Wings – I love the sauce. My lovey devoured this. Well, given that he loves ANY and EVERY Buffalo Wings.

Image

Pulled Pork Pizza – This is heavenly. Lots and lots of cheese with what tasted like bits and pieces of barbeque. Hihi.

We had to run though, the night we tried this was the night of Matteo Guddicelli’s birthday so we were asked to hurry up with our dinners. We’ll be trying the Nomama next time. :)) This was at Capital Commons.

EAT FORT: NOLITA

It’s been a while since our last Saturday Date. Hooray for today!

Image

They have a diner set up. But they also have picnic tables to slightly soften the look. Nolita is a Self service restaurant. All of their pizzas are on the chalk board menu on the counter.

Image

Though they have menus posted up, you can also check out the freshly baked pizzas on the counter so you still have to check if the pizzas you’ve chosen are available.

Image

Cheeseburger Pizza – It was delicious! It was overflowing with cheese. the beef slices are generous too.

Image

Chicken Parmesan – There was a huge chunk of chicken bits on my pizza!! I think the chicken was deep fried first before it was placed on top of it. It was delicious. Though compared to the Cheeseburger, I liked the cheeseburger better. The reason behind it? CHEESE. The Chicken Parmesan was lavished with tomato sauce. It overpowered the parmesan.

Image

Lemonade with Alcohol – You can’t go wrong with Lemonade! and a little booze doesn’t hurt. But seriuosly, you won’t even taste the alcohol. It was G-O-O-D.

Image

Onion Rings – I’ll rephrase that. It should be Gigantic Onion Rings. They were huge. Onions were as huge. The dip was good!

Image

Overall? We didn’t finish anything. Each pizza was not finished. One slice can be shared by two. Everything was like American Size. Haha. But food was good. :)))

EAT Mandaluyong: Project Pie

My date suggested that we eat here. This is opposite the S&R construction and beside Starbucks.
Good thing that we were a bit early than everybody else.

20131005-094900.jpg
